Memorial Service

The whole gang...minus the grand kids

Evan and his siblings

Evan's grandpa served in the Navy and had great love and pride in the United States. His patriotism definitely rubbed off on his posterity.

Black Friday

I went out early Friday morning with my mom. We got in the store and were done within 45 minutes. I wouldn't really call it "fun" but it was a useful trip. Evan picked me up at my grandparent's house and we headed to Salt Lake to visit his dad's family. We visited with Grandpa Norby then went to his aunt and uncle's place for a short visit. Then the "kids" went and saw Tangled. Every time we get together with Evan's siblings we try and see a movie and just doesn't work out, so finally we got to see a movie together.
Here is Evan and his little brother spending some quality time together at Target, before the movie started.

Thanksgiving

My older sister hosted Thanksgiving at her place this year and my parents even drove down, so we were all together expect for my older brother. We of course had a yummy relish tray (my favorite part about thanksgiving) and my nephew figured out that black olives fit perfectly on ones finger all by himself. The boys worked on a puzzle while we cooked. We also made the "thankful" tree which Heather made us do before we could eat. She also stuck all the tables together to made one really big table eliminating the "kid table."
After our feast Evan went to Heber to visit with his family. They were able to share memories about their grandpa and hear a tape he made for his wife and kids before he passed away. My family attempted to do some per Black Friday shopping, but Rex wouldn't go to sleep then he barfed so we had to give him a bath...but at least I finally have a picture of him smiling.

Life Comes Full Circle

Evan's Grandfather passed away November 23, 2010 the same day my best friend gave birth to her baby girl. So we made an expected trip up to Utah for Evan's Grandpa's memorial and spend time with family.
It was so fun to surprise Kristi and meet her new little one. I also got to meet up with my college roommate Corrine who I haven't seen since she returned from her mission.

Thanksgiving

Tuesday November 23 we left for Utah after Evan got home from work. We made it to Las Vegas, NV in the wee hours of the morning and crashed at a fun little hotel where we stayed on the 12th floor! Wednesday morning we headed out again. We made it to Provo late afternoon. After visiting Kristi and her new baby we met up with my family. Then we headed to my grandparents house, but not before we made a quick pit stop at the DI...well worth the stop.

watching my nephew play...our favorite thing to do when we get together
can't pass up a good deal
and they can even share it too!

"Eegees" 11.19.10

When we would tell people we were moving to Tucson their responses were always pretty similar. They'd say something like this, "oh, that SUCKS...But you HAVE to go to Eegees." Now that we are in Tucson when people find out that we moved from Phoenix they say something like, "oh well I'm sorry about that." I'm not sure the reason, but there is definitely an unspoken rivalry between people from Phoenix and people from Tucson.
So Friday night we went to Eegees since we HAD to go. It is a sandwich place, but they are best known for their version of the slushie. We ordered "The Original Grinder." Basically it looked like a sandwich from a grocery store deli. Evan got a Pina Colada slushie and I got the cherry. Evan's drink reminded me of the "snow cones" from Monster's INC. He didn't like it very much, but we both liked mine.
We also bought Evan 2 suits, since he doesn't have one and it was cheaper if we bought 2 instead of 1. He will put these to good use next year when he interviews for residency positions.
Evan really wanted me to post a picture of my awesome shopping trip to Old Navy. (he is so supportive of my obsession with a good deal) They had their clearance on sale for an additional 50% off, and of course I had a coupon to go with that...an additional 30% off the final total. Here is what I bought: 1 woman's jeans, 1 woman's bermuda shorts, 1 woman's sweater, 1 woman's long sleeve shirt, 1 woman's sport's bra, 1 men's t-shirt, shorts and a t-shirt for my nephew, 2 infant onesies, 1 infant t-shirt, 1 infant dress, 5 pairs of infant shorts TOTAL=36$ and change

The Things I Make Evan Do

11.10.10: I hosted a Toy Story 3 party. We wore costumes (kinda) and had homemade rolls and Campbell's Chicken Noodle Shapes soup (Toy Story 3 shapes) I added rice and chicken to the soup as well. Then we watched Toy Story 3 of course.
Me with my soup and "costume." My PJs have teddy bear cowboys on them.

11.12.10 Evan and I went to Chuck E. Cheese for date night. It was quite the drive, but we were able to see a new part of Tucson. Evan wasn't to thrilled at the idea, but he warmed up to it and we enjoyed our time. We even won 158 tickets (mostly from Ski Ball and Deal or No Deal)
My Captain Nero, Action Hero...Isn't he cute?

A night out

Evan and I traveled up to Glendale so that I could go to "Super Saturday" and Evan had a dermatology meeting in Phoenix he wanted to attend SO we had a sleep over at the Wingets. We went out to dinner at a Thai place in town. It was super yummy and kinda fancy. (P.S Ashley and I didn't plan on matching...it just always happens. When we worked together we dressed the same at least twice a week. Great minds think alike I guess:)

Life update and Halloween

So moving to Tucson has been quite the adventure. We moved all of our belongings down here October 23 then we drove back up to Glendale to clean our apartment. We stayed the night in Glendale with some friends. Then Evan flew out of the Phoenix airport to a medical conference in San Francisco. I drove back to Tucson and spent 2 full days unpacking and buying new thing for the apartment (like new flatware organizer since our old one is too big, caddy for the dish rags ect.) Evan ca
me home Tuesday October 26 and informed me he could not live in that apartment and that it spelt way too much like smoke. He slept out in the car that night. Then we spent the next three days figuring out if we could get out of our contract and trying to find a new place. On Thursday October 28 I drove up to Evan's sister's house so that I could watch her kids while she was performing in a community play o
f "The Sound of Music." So on Friday October 29 Evan got out of work early and was able to work it out with the apartment complex to let us switch apartments. Evan spent all of that night and the next morning and afternoon moving all of our stuff by himself across the complex to our new place on the third floor. Now I'm still not all the way unpacked from the second move and still a little scattered, but I'm getting there.
Halloween pictures to enjoy:
Helping my niece and nephews carve their pumpkins. They each designed their own and clean up was a breeze. Yes they are in their swim suits because we went swimming afterwards (it's Arizona remember).
"CHEESE"

On Saturday I let the kids "paint" with chocolate pudding. They loved it. And yes they mad a big mess that I pick up. Hopefully their shorts came clean. Then I took them to their Bike Safety/Halloween Carnival for their community. I won two prizes from the raffle...One free appetizer from Texas Road House and Dinner for Two at Texas Road House. (Guess where Evan and I ate that night?) Totally worth babysitting.
(sorry it is blurry Elizabeth)
Sunday Halloween night we had our first guests over, the Andersons. Bryan is doing a rotation in Tucson so Kristin and the babe came down for a visit. They even brought us dinner and we played a board game and dressed Nora up for Halloween. I think I enjoyed it more than she did, but she makes a cute Dragon right?
