The Music Man

Evan's older sister is a very talented singer and actress. She has recently gone back to performing with a community theater company. And this time around her daughter really wanted to perform as well and landed the role of Gracie Shinn. She even had 2 speaking lines.
The stars of the play. Sara played Ms. Paroo and got lots of laughs. Kallie with the cast list...still clutching the trophy a friend made for her.
Evan's mom came down for the show as well and it was really fun spending the weekend with family.
Giving Mom some love

SURVIVOR

One of Evan and my favorite shows is Survivor. The show premiered yet another season this past week so we watched the show in true survivor fashion...in our bathing suits and "buffs" aka bandannas. We also had a Survivor "feast" (chicken, rice, and veggies) and ate on the floor also very Survivor-ish. Can't wait for AMAZING RACE, which I love a little more than Survivor.

Valentine's Day 2011

I know there is mixed opinions on Valentines day. Some say the day should be called, "Single Awareness Day." While others say it should be boycotted for being a holiday for the card company-all though no one will admit that that is what Mother's Day and Father's Day is as well. So the Norby's compromise. We celebrate the day by doing something that we don't usually do, making the day a special out of the ordinary day. Since it is warm in February in Arizona we had our 3rd annual Valentine's day picnic.
Tuna croissants, pasta salad and St. Valentine's favorite fruit, strawberries.
Then we took approximately 36 picture in an attempt to capture a somewhat decent picture of the two of us.
Tucson is kinda pretty huh?

If I had a million dollars...I'd be rich

On last week's episode of Castle the murder victim had recently won 100 million dollars. Which got me thinking "what would I do with 100 million dollars?" and "would it drive me crazy" like most lottery winners?

Here is how I would spend my money (or at least some of it 100 million is A TON)
First-I'd give in and buy Evan a TV
Second-I'd pay off all our student loans, and put enough a side to pay for the rest of school
Third-I would take each of my IMMEDIATE family members and Evan's IMMEDIATE family members and their families on vacation, and of course go with them so I could go to some cool places too. Some destinations I have come up with so far: the great barrier reef, Hawaii, the Caribbean, an Alaskan Cruise, Italy, and Paris (I won't tell you which family member goes with each trip because just in case I do come into a lot of money I don't want to spoil the surprise...Although I am open to suggestions kinda)
Fourth- I would rent out the COOLEST vacation home in Vegas. Check it out HERE. I called to find out how much it was to see if my family could have a family reunion there...$10,000 a night...yeah I said no thanks, but for a multi-millionaire chump change right? So all my friends and family will be invited to come and hang out with me here. Seriously check it out it's way cool
Fifth-I'd buy some properties. That's always a good investment right?
Sixth-I would purchase new carpet for the learning center at the Peoria Boys and Girls Club where I use to work, because it smells like little children.

And to answer my second question...Would I drive myself crazy with all that money? The answer is NO and here's why. I hereby proclaim that I will not front the bill for your small start up company, I will not buy magazines from you so you can win a trip to Disneyland, and I will not pay for your child to go to private school. Also you will still be getting the same lame Christmas gift or lack of gift from me that you got last year (remember I just took you to Hawaii-no complaining).

Let's play pretend

Evan had Friday off of work so we went to the Temple. We babysat our nephews for the weekend. When we picked little Klinton up we drove by some model homes. We did a quick walk/run though but Klinton was eager to show us the place as though it were his place. "and here is the shower, where you take a bath" and "here is the closet for your dress"

latest past time

I was having a particularly "bad day" a few weeks ago. Evan suggested we go to Barnes and Noble and read some books. We now often walk over there just to sit in their fluffy chairs and read.
Here is Evan in his favorite section, "current affairs"

Doctor Awesome

Here is Evan on his last day of his OB/GYN rotation. Although he has no intentions of practicing this type of medicine he really enjoyed the rotation. He even broke Dr. Palen's students' record of most babies delivered in a four week period, SIX. On one of the last days Evan almost delivered a baby without supervision. The mom progressed very quickly and the Doctor almost didn't make it in time for the delivery. When the Nurses told the doctor that Evan almost delivered the baby on his own Dr Palen replied, "He could have done it, I trained him well."

Evan is now on his first Internal Medicine rotation and has one more left as well as 2 Family Medicine rotations...Then fourth year begins. I'm so proud of how hard he works and can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

P.S I've noticed some of my friends call their husbands "Dr. McDreamy" or "Dr. McSteamy" from Grey's Anatomy, but Evan and I have been watching the show Chuck...so I've nick named Evan Dr. Awesome;)
