4 months old 4.24.12

Autumn turned four months old last week.  We celebrated by taking her to the doctor.  She weighed in at 12 pounds 2.2 ounces and is 24.5 inches long.  She now grabs for toys.  She likes going on her morning walks with her mom, so she can spit up outside instead of inside on the carpet .  She stops neighbors to coo and say "what a cute baby."  She also loves her evening exploratory walks to the nearby water fountain with her dad.  She likes her baths and finally likes the car (Hallelujah).  She wears 1-2 size diapers and 3-6 months clothes.  She still sleeps about 9 hours or more a night  and easily goes down for naps.  And is growing a very stylish mullet, which her mother refuses to trim.

She also loves playing in the bathroom where she can grab things out of the basket on the counter and see her reflection.

Our Little Prodigy

The other day Evan was reading to Autumn and she seemed very interested.  We have a little smarty pants on our hands!

EVAN IS DONE WITH MEDICAL SCHOOL

Last Friday April 13th was Evan's last day of medical school. Yup time really does fly. He finished up a two week elective rotation at a family medicine practice near by and raced home.
Evan bought himself some very nice speakers as a graduation/30th birthday present. Here he is listening to music with his best buddy, Autumn. Right now her favorite song is Come on Over by Christina Aguilera.

HE DID IT!!! I'm excited for this chapter in our lives to be over, yet apprehensive for the next one to begin.
Oh yeah, Evan raced home from work because he was expecting a package in the mail....A TV. He has been collecting Best Buy gift cards from three years worth of Birthdays and Christmas'. And he finally cashed them in and bought a TV and Blu Ray player (and still has left over cards).
I think it was better than Christmas morning for Evan, because he actually got something opposed to gift cards with the hope that one day he might actually get a gift.

Easter

We had a low key Easter. I tried to come up with some meaningful and clever ways to celebrate Christ and His resurrection, and got nothing. So we went to church and Autumn was an angel so I got a lot out of Church, which was perfect.
Autumn did get an Easter basket.
and wore a new outfit

Autumn was so good to let me take a zillion pictures of her in her new dress and squished into her basket. For a while...
It was cute I had to include it!
We did go over to Evan's sister's house for a lovely dinner. We even used the cool egg straws Evan's mom sent!

Suns Vs. Lakers

Our brother-in-law is involved in several muti-level marketing groups, the official energy drink of the Phoenix Suns being one of them. So he got us tickets to the Suns Vs. Lakers game in the "lounge" area. Standing room only. And they meant it. We couldn't see the court from the lounge because of the people sitting (where we weren't allowed too). There were couches in from of TVs though. Evan did find a poll to lean up against where he could see the tiny court. I guess it was the "leaning" that led to a couple 21-year olds hitting on him (while I was walking around with Autumn). They were baffled to hear he was 30 years old and even more baffled when he said he was at the game with his wife and daughter. I told him, "see THAT's why you should wear a wedding ring." He is just so irresistible;)

Autumn Bottom

Apparently I forgot to do the "rhythms with" test before naming my child because apparently we named her something that rhythms with a synonym for BUTT. Evan started calling her Autumn Bottom a couple weeks ago and I thought "oh how unpleasant." Then I realized it might as well be a term of endearment coming from her parents first then from mean Billy in her first grade class. I also like to call her Peanut Butter, go figure.
Future Doctor?
tolerating tummy time
She fits into her "going home" outfit now. My baby is getting so big.
