Mesa Temple Program

Evan's sister is a very talented singer and about a year ago joined an all woman's singing group. They put on various concerts throughout the year. Evan and I went and saw her group perform at the temple for a fun Saturday date night. The temple grounds were also beautifully decorated with lights and nativities.
They sounded great, it's just too bad we waited and saw the next group perform and let's just say I wish we wouldn't have...

Glendale Glitters

The city of Glendale has a "festival" downtown with a ton of lights and street vendors. It was very pretty, but very crowded. Much better choice this year than Zoo lights, especially since Glendale Glitters is free! We also met up with a friend of mine from work and her cute little baby.

Black Friday=Getting ready for Christmas

When Evan was a kid his family set up Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving, so now that is what we do in our family.
I love that we can pick out a tree in shorts and a t-shirt. I put on a scarf so it would feel somewhat like winter even though it was probably around 70 degrees. My dad and Evan carrying the tree home from Home Depot.
Evan putting some ornaments up.
Putting up the star.
The finished product! (Thanks for doing the lights mom, I hate that part)
My parents took Evan and I out for THEIR wedding anniversary. (Notice the cute heart flamingos in the background)
I made a mini-wedding cake for their 27th wedding anniversary.

Thanksgiving 2009

The Thanksgiving spread...including Rainbow Jello
So Thanksgiving night we had this "great" idea to go to the Anthem Outlet malls since their "Black Friday" sales started at 10pm Thursday night. Lets just say everyone else in the Metro Phoenix area had the same idea as well. It took us about 30 extra minutes to get to the mall then we had to park SUPER far away (you can kinda see the mall in the distance). My mom managed to find something she wanted to buy, but ironically it wasn't on sale. We didn't brave the crowd for too long, but it was fun to see all the Christmas decorations on the mall.

The results are in...

Evan will do his third year rotations in Tucson, AZ, which means the Norby family will be moving there sometime this summer.

We've Cast our Vote!

Today was the last day to let Midwestern know our choices of rotation spots for next year. Here is what we finally decided upon:

1. West Valley (Glendale/Peoria)
2. East Valley (Mesa/Gilbert/Tempe)
3. Tuscon
4. Cottonwood

We really don't want to move! We love our ward and where we live, but only time will tell. If everything goes "smoothly" we will know the verdict December 21 right before Evan starts his winter break (how convenient-HA).

Science Museum

My best friend, Kristi, was visiting her husband's family for Thanksgiving in the east valley so we met up for lunch at my Mom's favorite place, Cafe Rio. When my mom would visit me in college she would always take to me Cafe Rio so I was returning the favor, since they aren't any Cafe Rios where they live.
After lunch we went to the Arizona Science Museum. The culture passes from the library are awesome-four adults for free!Evan in the "Earth" exhibit. There was a cool display about weather, where they stimulated natural elements, hurricane, volcano, earthquake, ect.

Evan examining his eyeball with the camera, which is suppose to be used to look at the rocks on display. My diamond ring looked pretty cool under the magnifying camera as well.

The "machines" exhibit. Look how strong my husband is, pulling himself up on the "hardest" pulley.
Bed of nails

Wheelchair races. So much fun, but very difficult and made my hands sore.
My dad and Evan playing with the magnetic blocks. My dad and husband are two peas in a pod, they are so much alike.
Driving the robotic remote control car.
Outside the Arizona Science Center. We definitely could have spent more time there, but I guess they have to close sometime.
Mom and dad with a real Arizona cactus!
Again the two little buddies working on the traditional "Thanksgiving Puzzle."

New Moon under the Stars

My parents came to visit the week of Thanksgiving. While they were visiting we went to see "New Moon" at the drive-in theater in downtown Glendale. Evan and I like to go to the drive-in when he is on a break since it is cheaper on Tuesday nights and he studies on the week nights while he is in school. We have been to the drive-in more times than the regular theater since we have been living in Arizona. It was unusually cold that night outside watching the movie, but it was worth it for the "experience" of the drive-in.

Student Doctor Norby

My supervisor at work asked Evan if he would come in to the Club and give a presentation about the dangers of obesity and prevention of obesity to some of our youth. Evan did a great job. He was so patient with all the random questions and comments the kids had for him.

A "Pear" of new Mommies

Saturday I helped put together a baby shower for 2 of my friends Cara and Tara. The theme was "A 'Pear' of New Mommies." We decorated with pears and another friend made an AWESOME pear/apple salad. The shower was in the morning so we had brunch type foods, muffins, fruit, juice, ect. The invites were in the shape of a pear, they turned out super cute. Cara is having a girl and Tara is having a boy so the the pear color scheme (greenish/yellow) was perfect for our gender neutral shower. (I can brag about how cute the "pear" idea was since it wasn't my idea, right?)
Here are some guests playing one of my favorite shower games, guess whose name is one your back. Notice 6-year old Kelsey in the photo. I highly recommend invited a 6- year old to your next get together. She was so helpful. Kelsey passed out the gifts and even helped be the timer for one of the games.

Evan's Quarterly Break-Week One

Monday: We visited Evan's sister. This is Evan pushing our nephew on his bike. What a cool bike right?

Wednesday: We went to the Mesa Temple and did sealings. That was a first for both of us (besides our own of course).
Friday: Evan and I went to a driving range and hit a bucket of balls. We use to go all the time when we were dating, but haven't gone in a very long time. The driving range was not as nice as the one we use to go to in Orem. I felt very out numbered by all the men at the range. In Utah no matter what day we went on it always felt like "group date night." I guess that's what you get when you live in a college town.
