The same day we got home from Utah, my brother came to visit. We took him to discover more boots around town and we even played at the park for about 20 minutes before the kids were melting in the heat.
My favorite photographer was moving away so I booked a last minute session with her. The kids asked me how I was bribing them this year. I told them I thought they were old enough to just wear what I bought and smile. Maverick, especially, insisted he needed a bribe or he would not wear a button down shirt. They all got ice cream after pictures.
Olive still loves "Ahhhh", Elsa and Anna, but now she prefers "Buzzzzz" and the Toy Story gang.
Each week this summer we've done a different type of art project. The charcoal project was even messier than the paint projects. I told Maverick he looked like "Burt" from Mary Poppins.
We bought new chairs for the basement theater. We made an awesome fort. These two especially had a good time designing and decorating the fort.
We made a landline phone and a collage picture frame.
Frontier days was cancelled, but the Air Force Base still put on an airshow. Lucky for us my mother in law went over very early and saved us great seats.
Grandpa and Olive waiting for the show to start.
Evan had to work, but got off just in time to see the show. These three were very excited about all the different types of planes,
That night we finally broke down and let the kids roast s'mores. And we quoted the Sandlot while making them, since the kids recently got to see the cult classic.
We spent a morning out in nature taking pictures as one of our art projects.
Violet finally let me rip her front tooth out.
The kids were goofing around and Maverick ran into the box fort and scratched his eye up. He fell asleep on the couch pretty early that night. In the morning he said it still hurt, so I bandaged it up. Evan informed me that is not helpful so we took the bandage off, but Maverick wanted a picture to show all his friends.
The kids will often each take a turn hanging out at grandma's for a couple hours at a time. Sometimes they will go on a bike ride or play games. They all love eating lunch at her house. This time Maverick learned how to play Sudoku.
A new splash pad opened up downtown. It is small and our attention span didn't last long but we had fun for about 45 minutes one afternoon.
Maverick has been sporting the bandanna since his eye injury (trying to keep his flowing locks out of his eyes).
We found a neat public pool about an hour North of our house. There is a kid area, diving board and neat slide. Best thing is kids 5 and under are free, so all 6 of us got in for $4 for the full 4 hour open swim.
