ABQ

We traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico two weeks ago to visit Evan's sister, Meagan, and meet her new man. The drive was quite pleasant and we enjoyed playing our favorite car game, "celebrity name game."

Tucson Bucket List

Tucson Bucket List:

1. Have a slushie at Eegees

2. Go to the Kartchner Caverns

3. Visit the Sky Center on Mt. Lemmon

Check, Check, Check

With only a few weeks left living in Tucson we made the treacherous trek (i only threw up on the way down) up Mount Lemmon last night to see the stars. We got a great deal on groupon.com for the "night sky program," which was a 4.5 hour long program and included a delicious meal.

Evan was eager to "volunteer" to rotate the dome roof in order for the group to see the brightest star, Sirius, while it was still light out!

Looking at the sun-with a special sun looking telescope
Waiting for the "green rim" while the sun set...using the fancy binoculars they lent us. Editor's Note: I actually looked at the sun a little too early before the sunset to look for a greenish haze around the sun, and was told I just burned my retina...oops. The next week I checked my vision at the office I've been working at and my vision went from 20/13 to 20/10! Not really, it stayed at 20/13 so the consequences of my actions have yet to take effect.

Evan in front of a privately owned and operated telescope by some South Koreans. They access it remotely and serves as South Korea's national telescope. Evan is standing with his star chart, which is used to help locate different stars and constellations. Now if only he had something to help him locate his keys.

If you want to see all the rad stuff we saw visit this website

Editor's Note: I really gained a greater sense of the vastness of the universe. One of my "whoa!" moments when pondering living forever...forever ever, is thinking how much space there needs to be for everything that is going to happen. Quite frankly it gives me the heeby jeebies. Here is a perspective building analogy that the "tour guide" gave us:

If our solar system was the size of a penny the next closest solar system would be 220 yards away. Then if all the solar systems (pennies) in our Milky Way Galaxy were placed 220 yards apart from each other, then it would take up the entire continental USA. Now the distance across our galaxy (contental USA) is 1 light year, and we were looking at galaxies 30 trillion and 50 trillion light years away...That's a lot of freaking space. So, I have yet to get the heeby jeebies when wondering if we're all going to fit.

It also gave me a greater appreciation for the knowledge that Heavenly Father is really there and that he hears and answers every child's prayer...even mine.

Seminary Graduation 5.1.11

A few weeks ago I got a call from the stake executive secretary asking me if I could meet with one of the stake presidency counselors...tonight (it was a Friday, so I knew that meant business). Evan and I went over to President Elmer's house and he informed me that one of the seminary teachers couldn't finish out the year, and asked if I would teach the rest of the school year. Of course I said I would do it, even though it is EARLY morning seminary across town. I started that Monday. I teach The Doctrine and Covenants and Church History to the Seniors at Marana High School. They are a great group of kids, and despite their major "senioritis" still seem to participate and stay awake for the most part.

Sunday was their (very formal) Seminary Graduation. I didn't do anything for the production except sit on the stand. We still have 3 more weeks before school ends, so hopefully the kids will continue to come, or I'll be bored and tired.

Easter

I didn't take any pictures on Easter day, but I captured my favorite part of Easter the night before...Decorating hard-boiled eggs. And thanks to the cook book my mom bought me, "Anyone Can Cook Book" the eggs turned out perfect. I used said eggs the next day when I made a braided wreath thing out of bread and then put the eggs in to to make it look kinda like a nest (guess I should have taken a picture). Ne ways my aunt Gail use to make one every year on Easter so I tried it out and took the bread to the Hunt's house (Evan's 2nd cousins) and had a lovely feast with family.

(AWWW)
(notice the new technique I tried this year...wrapping dental floss around the egg, then dying...turned out pretty cool)

Birthday Trip

For my birthday my parents and Evan paid for me to go on a trip to Utah. My mom and I met in Utah and got to see lots of family! I also got to eat at JDAWGS with some freshman ward friends, eat Costa Vida with the fam and babysit my adorable nephew.
Heather (looking a little pregnant now) found a great deal on "City Deals"- manicure and hot rock pedicure for $18, not too shabby. Notice Heather and Hannah's new shirts they got shopping the day before at the Park City outlets.
Hannah was not too happy sitting three across in the front seat!
We went to the Masonic Temple in down town Salt Lake City. To earn money for their organization they rent out the Temple for different TV shows, including Judging Amy.
My aunt and uncle were in town for spring break so we had a family dinner with the Roberts family. We had a typical spring "cook out." (We also had "family dinner" the night before with the Robins, but I didn't get any pictures)
Kendra and our friend's adorable daughter Jetta
I went to dinner with some high school girl friends Kristi, Daphni, and Kendra.
and of course my cute nephew Rex!

"If it's free...it's for me"

"If it's free...it's for me!" has become the Norby family motto. For those of you out of the loop "National Cheese Fondue Day" is April 11. To commemorate this event The Melting Pot (a fancy "special event" type restaurant) was giving away FREE cheese fondue. So of course we took advantage...we did leave a tip so it wasn't entirely free, but totally worth the tip money.
Evan got out of work later than expected, so he didn't change his clothes. The restaurant is not that fancy.

Hard at Work

I asked Evan last week, "what's that box you brought home?" His response, "oh, it is to help me practice giving a rectal exam." You just turn the cube and you have four different "prostates" to exam, one "normal" and three with irregularities. Cool huh?
