Saying "Good bye"

After the graduation festivities were over and Evan's family drove/flew home the reality of us moving in a mere 6 days sunk in.  I convinced my mom to stay and help me pack (I usually start packing weeks before a move.  This time...well I didn't and was in trouble.)  So thankful my mom stayed, I'm not sure we would have gotten things finished without her.
Saying goodbye was a little bitter sweet.  I love Arizona.  I loved the heat.  I loved the desert.  I loved the freeways.  I loved all the conveniences of close shopping.  I am OK with change and I'm up for new adventures, but moving to a state I've never been to and so far away from family would be a challenge.

FAMILY

We had lots of fun with family the weekend Evan graduated here are some pictures.  Evan's brother's and sisters and most of the grand kids came as well as Evan's grandma, aunt Sharon, and his parents and my parents made it down for the big shin ding.  I didn't get any at the water park/community pool we went to but just close your eyes and imagine water and  people in swim suits NEVER MIND moving on.

This is one of my favorite pictures.  Grandpa Brian and Autumn reading the newspaper together.  It was one of my favorite past times as a kid.  Reading the Sunday comics with my dad.

Evan's "Future is Bright"

Even though we had a party the day of graduation I wanted to have a special party just for Evan.  He worked hard for four years of medical school to become Dr. Norby and many years before that, in preparation for medical school.  I wanted to show case some of his hard work.
Evan's Mom Linda was in charge of show casing Evan's pre-medical school life.  We watched a bunch of home videos from when he was a little boy up to high school.  Then we played "Are you "Brighter" than a Doctor"  (a play on "Are you smarter than a Fifth grader?" but I used light bulbs to decorate so it was "brighter" get it?) We had two teams, but both teams were playing against Doctor Norby.  The Categories were things like Resid"city" (like Residency and City...so things about Detroit), E.N.T Entertainment on Nightly Television (TV Shows about Doctors), Medical School, ect.  I didn't take any pictures of Evan at the party oops.  He did get a giant tube of golf balls from his parents and I gave him three new wedding bands just in case he lost a couple he would still have an extra (I don't want any nurses getting any ideas:)

There is his diploma!

The after party

A couple of friends and I threw a potluck for the graduates and their families at the stake center.  I think it was a huge hit.  It was very low key, but fun to see everyone before we all took off for our different adventures.

After the potluck we went back to the house the Norby's were renting for the weekend.  The boys enjoyed the pool all to themselves.  They had a good time playing with Patrick's cool underwater camera.

Graduation

June first Evan officially became a doctor.  The graduation ceremony was not terrible, honestly the best graduation I've ever attended.  The talks were short, sweet and meaningful.  My parents and I got there early and got great spots.  Too bad Evan didn't spot us until the end.

Graduation Banquet

Brooke, Kelly, Holly, me, Liz, and Kristin
Two days before graduation the school hosted a banquet for the graduates and their loved ones.  It was fun to see all of our friends and celebrate together.  The banquet was at a nice hotel in Glendale and we had a fancy steak dinner.  The awards part was WAY boring.  Evan and his buddy even snuck out for a good 15 minutes to watch the end of a playoff basketball game.  One of the awards was some spouse memorial award.  I turned to my friend sitting next to me and said something like, "what the heck kind of award is that?"  Then they started describing who it was for and I realized it was for my friend sitting next to me.  Her husband nominated her because she was such a supportive wive while he was in school.  She totally deserved the award even if it did have a odd name.

Bryan, Jon (not sure he got the memo to smile) and Evan
More of the ladies.  I didn't realize how cute Kristin's tights were  until I looked at the pictures, lookin' good  Kristin!

5 Months Young

May 24th was Autumn's 5 month birthday.  She is such a social little girl.  She is wearing some 6 months clothes and 3-6 months clothes and size 2 diapers.  She is great at grabbing things...and then putting them in her mouth.  Her mullet is getting much longer.  She LOVES to explore with her dad outside.  She tracks the cars outside with her eyes.  Autumn thinks my laugh is funny.  If I laugh she laughs.  She likes riding in the car now, mostly because she can pacify herself by sucking on her fingers.  She can sit up by herself for a few seconds.  She definitely knows what she wants and doesn't want and will let you know.  She still likes to dance with her dad.  Right now she likes the Vengaboys' Boom Boom Boom (aunt Hannah's favorite) and Aqua's Dr. Jones (one of dad's happy songs).  She is no longer a perfect sleeper as she is proficient in rolling over in both directions.

She has been very cranky a few days this past month.  I suspect this is due to teething, so I gave her a  pacifier to suck on.  She liked the handle best.
She likes to suck on her fingers awhile telling me (and Evan) she loves me at the same time.
