Things that Go

The Library sponsored a fun event where families could look at/climb in a variety of "things that go".  Autumn was particularly shy that night, but I think she still had a good time.  And of course I brought my helpers along so I wouldn't have to carry Autumn, since Evan was working out of town.
A pony
In the back of a police car "caught red-handed"!
Crawling underneath the snow plow
In the snow plow truck
Driving a fire truck
Hang loose...in a mini-airplane...that is only used for occasions like this and the parades around town.

Bakers

We've been lucky this summer to have a bunch of visitors pass threw Cheyenne.  My sister and her family came for a short visit on their way to Utah.  We took the kiddos to our awesome library.

I love cousin baths...This picture of Alice cracks me up...she is such a sass-a-frass
It was a bit of a struggle getting ready for church since Autumn didn't have pink church shoes like Alice! Gasp.  But they did have matching hair clips and similar dresses!  After church Greg and Evan took the kids to the park and I got a real solid nap.  Autumn and Alice however did not so they took turns that afternoon being crank pants.  (especially since they went to bed at 10 pm...I guess that's what happens when you let three little kids sleep in sleeping bags on the floor...WAY TOO MUCH FUN was happening instead of sleep)
Running through the sprinklers in their matching swim suits.

And of course Baby Henry.  We had a picnic dinner outside.  It is probably 10+ degrees hotter inside.  UG.
Sidewalk chalk time.

Baby shower

After the aquarium some friends from church hosted a baby shower for my twiners.  There was yummy fruit dip and fruit and some other yummy dip for veggies along with tomato/mozzarella skewers-and a cake.  Some people love baby showers games some people hate them.  I think the way they did the games was perfect.  We played 5 or so games really quickly and if you didn't want to play no one would have noticed.

How many pacifier candies in the jar game.
Draw a baby on a paper plate while it is on your head.  Some of the drawings were quite impressive...others were just really funny.
Party favors...little ice cream pens...went with the theme of "two scoops of joy, a girl and a boy"
Trying to figure out what baby food was in each bowl.
Then of course the "how huge is Amber's belly?" game...my sweet niece was a little off
Pregnant waddle game: had to carry a balloon in your shirt and quarter between your knees, then drop the quarter in a mason jar.

Don't mind my posture in this picture...We also played guess how much all the baby stuff on the table costs..Price is Right style.
The next day we took the historical downtown trolley ride.  I bet you didn't know that the first hotel with phones in each room is in Cheyenne, or that The Yellow Pages started in Cheyenne, or that Wyoming was the first state to allow woman the right to vote?

Mermaids!

I've been wanting an excuse to go to the aquarium in Denver so I was thrilled when Evan's sister tagged along with her husband on his business trip to Colorado.  We went to the aquarium and the girls had a good time.

The best part of the aquarium is they have a mermaid show.  Autumn whined in the car almost the whole way to Denver...until I told her we were going to see mermaids.

The girls inside one of the tanks.
Meeting the mermaids after the show.  Autumn really enjoyed it, but you can't tell from her face.
A sting ray!  Autumn didn't want to touch it...I don't blame her..it was slimy.
See she really did like the mermaids...she didn't want to leave.  She just doesn't like to smile for pictures.
The gift shop proved to be just as fun as the actual exhibits.

How to dress like you are 34 weeks pregnant with twins

How to dress like you are 34 weeks pregnant with twins.

Step 1: Put on underwear (if they fit).  If they don't fit I hear a good alternative is your husbands unders.  However if your husband is slender I do not recommend this as it may cause some self-esteem issues.

Step 2:  Put on your back brace/pregnant belly lifter belt.  *Note when your mother says, "are you sure a medium is going to be big enough?"...you should listen and go with the bigger size.

Step 3:  Put on your compression leggings.  Allow 6-7 minutes for this step as it is very difficult and will cause shortness of breath.  I recommend rupreggers.com.  They cost the same as drug store compression leggings but come in fun colors...and they go over your belly for comfort.

Step 4:  Put on one of the 3 tunic tops Target's maternity section sells.  Since that is the only store in town that sells maternity gear after Motherhood Maternity closed right after you found out you were pregnant.
Step 5:  Put on the only pair of shoes that fit you.  Buckling the back is optional, as you may need help to do so.  *Note: make sure you prop your feet up during the day so that your feet don't swell too much and you'll be able to take them off at the end of the day.

We survived

Every summer Cheyenne hosts "Frontier Days".  It is a 10 day party with, 3 days of free pancake breakfasts, 4 parades, carnival, nightly concerts with people like Brad Paisley and Tim McGraw, and of course the rodeo.  Lots of Cheyenne natives flee for the week because they say it is too crowded.  The city supposedly triples in size for the 10 days.  Last year we were out of town for a family reunion, but this year Autumn and I experienced a few activities around town.
Autumn and I were suppose to meet up with Evan while they did rounds outside and watch the parade.  We ended up showing up half way threw the parade.  Which ended up being perfect since I found a 1 hour parking spot close to the route and only had to walk a little way to find a shady spot to sit and watch a million horses and tractors.  Autumn loved all the horses.  Then Evan carried my chair to the car and I drove him threw the traffic-less streets to the hospital.  Activity one=successful
Then when it rained our splash pad plans got cancelled so we decided to go with some friends to the Thunder Birds air show.  We ended up missing the shuttle and had to park at the community college where the event was being held.  We showed up a few minutes before the program was to begin, but because it was overcast the jets waited to fly for over an hour.  Good thing we brought lots of snacks.  Autumn thought the show was too noisy.  Then what should have taken us 15 minutes to get home took us 90 minutes!  Later I found out Evan watched the whole show from the roof of the hospital.  So successful event for Evan not so much for us.
The next day we went with our same friends to the Indian Village and watched the dancing.  It was hot.  And there were only a few dancers because there was a bunch of events they were dancing at that day.  Autumn loved it and the hoop dancing was rather rad.  Luckily a different friend of mine was out of town and lives close so we parked in her driveway.  Autumn loved the dancing so much she asked if we could go back on Saturday.  All the dancers were there that day and Evan even came with us.  All in all we survived the 10 days.

Waiting for the air show.
Too loud!

That weekend I braided and put Autumn's hair in curlers.  She was really excited, until I took them out.  She said, "Mom, too crazy".  She was really nervous about the end result.  so I put it half up for her.
And then she dressed herself for church and even wore her foam slap bracelets she got from a friend's birthday party the day before.

Random bath day.  My dad use to always put our hair in Mohawks when we were little.  Autumn thought it was great!
