Student Doctor Norby

My supervisor at work asked Evan if he would come in to the Club and give a presentation about the dangers of obesity and prevention of obesity to some of our youth. Evan did a great job. He was so patient with all the random questions and comments the kids had for him.

A "Pear" of new Mommies

Saturday I helped put together a baby shower for 2 of my friends Cara and Tara. The theme was "A 'Pear' of New Mommies." We decorated with pears and another friend made an AWESOME pear/apple salad. The shower was in the morning so we had brunch type foods, muffins, fruit, juice, ect. The invites were in the shape of a pear, they turned out super cute. Cara is having a girl and Tara is having a boy so the the pear color scheme (greenish/yellow) was perfect for our gender neutral shower. (I can brag about how cute the "pear" idea was since it wasn't my idea, right?)
Here are some guests playing one of my favorite shower games, guess whose name is one your back. Notice 6-year old Kelsey in the photo. I highly recommend invited a 6- year old to your next get together. She was so helpful. Kelsey passed out the gifts and even helped be the timer for one of the games.

Evan's Quarterly Break-Week One

Monday: We visited Evan's sister. This is Evan pushing our nephew on his bike. What a cool bike right?

Wednesday: We went to the Mesa Temple and did sealings. That was a first for both of us (besides our own of course).
Friday: Evan and I went to a driving range and hit a bucket of balls. We use to go all the time when we were dating, but haven't gone in a very long time. The driving range was not as nice as the one we use to go to in Orem. I felt very out numbered by all the men at the range. In Utah no matter what day we went on it always felt like "group date night." I guess that's what you get when you live in a college town.

Finals are OVER...for now

I love when Evan is done with finals! It's possible that I get more stressed out about his finals than he does. I got him a box of chocolate covered fruits from "Edible Arrangements" as a congrats on finishing finals/thank you for all your hard work gift. He now gets a two week break and then back to the books. Only two more quarters until he starts rotaions! Time really does go by so quickly, even when I count down the days until the next break!
Chocolate dipped heart-shaped pineapple, so cute right!

Boo-ritos!!

Instead of carving pumpkins this year I decided to make a ghost lantern thingy. I copied it from my first-cousin-once removed's (my dad's cousin) blog. I thought it was totally cute and I already had all of the supplies. So Evan and I made it for Family Night one night. (well Evan studied while I made it, but we were in the same room, so I'm counting that)

Since I work with youth we had a "Harvest Festival" a.k.a Halloween party for the kiddos. So I had a great excuse to dress up. I'm a treasure troll, like the little dolls you played with when you were young. Most of the kids didn't know who I was, but they thought my hair was cool. I showed some of them a picture of what a treasure troll looks like, and one replied, "oh my mom has one of those." That made me feel kinda old. Oh, well it was fun.

Another picture after work, when Evan was home. At the Harvest Festival the kids voted for one of the staff members to get a pie in the face and none other than yours truly was nominated. I'm still trying to figure out if that means the kids hate me or love me. (maybe a little of both) It didn't really bother me, especially because both of the kids that threw the pie totally missed, sorta anti-climatic.
On Halloween night Evan and I dressed up as "boo-ritos" in order to score some free burritos from Chipotle. Their burritos are so yummy. I love their corn salsa. I was pleasantly surprised we weren't the only cheapskates there. Tons of people were dressed in tin foil. Although, our costumes were honestly the best.

Not the most flattering outfits, but the lettuce is cute, right?

After our trip to Chipotle we decorated ghost lollipops and waited for Trick-or-treaters, but none showed. Good thing I didn't go out and buy a ton of candy.

(Notice the lollipop in the back dressed as a troll...he he)

Evan's ghosts are a tad bit scarier than mine!

November 1st we had some friends over, the Andersons and the Wingets, for diner. My mom sent me some cute Halloween napkins, napkin rings and a table cloth so I had to put them to good use. I used Siri Henderson's grilled pineapple receipe and it was awesome, grilled pineapple is the best!

My favorite Past Time

I don't mean to make this into a "frugal" or "coupon" blog, but honestly "couponing" is pretty much all I have been doing lately. I taught a class on "couponing" at my church's "Super Saturday" this past weekend. I had a ton of fun preparing it and teaching it and I think others enjoyed it as well...I hope. I wanted to post a SUPER good deal I got today, not only because it is a wicked good deal, but for my friends who are just starting out this is a great way to start, because you don't need to print anything and you don't need the newspaper.

Here is the break down. Target has a promotion going on if you buy 5 certain Glade or Febreeze products you get a Target Gift Card for $5.00. Cool right. Imagine if you could use coupons to make your out of pocket expense very low. Well, you're in luck. All you need to do is find a "blinkie" machine that spits out coupons that say "buy one glade candle tin, get one refill free, (I've heard you can get them at Kroger (Fry's) and K-mart, among other places). I found two machines at Albertsons (59th Ave and the 101) you need to take 5 coupons that say "buy one glade candle tin, get one refill free". Then go to Target. There are $1.50 off one tin (or refill)
inside the Glade candle tins. Since the tins aren't packaged you can open them and use the coupons on your order. Sometimes you can't find them because other people or the store takes them out (boo). Both the tins and the refills are priced at $2.50. This is what your order will look like.

5 Glade HOLIDAY candle tins-$2.50 each=$12.50 total
5 Glade HOLIDAY Candle tin refills-$2.50 each=$12.50 total

then use all 5 of your Buy one tin get a refill free- will subtract $2.50 five times=$12.50 total
then use 5 $1.50 off one tin- will subtract $1.50 5 times=$7.50

Your subtotal should be
$5.00 (you'll have to pay Tax on the $25.00 original subtotal) then you'll get 2 -$5.00 Gift Cards for purchasing (which can be used on a FUTURE purchase, not the one you just made). It's like making $5.00!!!

Here's what my order looked like....

This is a nation wide promotion that is not advertised in the weekly flyers, but there should be signs at your local Target. Also remember it is only on the holiday scents, but even though the Apple Cinnamon was not with the holiday scents they rang up as part of the promotion. You can use the self price scanner to see if a particular item is part of the deal. If any of my AZ friends want to go shopping let me know, I'm always up for a trip!

P.S did you notice the grocery store ads on the counter (not on purpose) I'm super excited for one particular deal this week. Fry's Market Place has Nature Valley Nut Clusters (my other obsession, discovered them when I had a coupon...LOVE THEM) on sale for $1.57 when you buy 4. Well I have some coupons for $1.60 off of one!!! That makes for free Nut Clusters!!! I was SOOO excited when I saw this I literally danced around my apartment! Yeah for free Nuts!!

Go, Go, Go Sara

Evan and I went to see an awesome community theater play in Gilbert (on 10/10) called "Joesph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat." The set was awesome, acting was great, and the costumes exceeded my expectations. Best part about it Evan's sister was in it. She played Jacob's wife and was apart of the ensemble. This is Evan and Sara after the show. So much fun!
