3 Arizona summers=
3 scorpions!!! This is our third summer in sunny Arizona and each summer we have been here has brought a scorpion. Each year I learn a little more about these creatures that frighten me so much...
Summer of 2008: I was using the bathroom when I saw a small critter crawling on the bathroom floor...I screamed for Evan and he dutifully took care the scary scorpion
-lesson learned the SMALLER the scorpion the more deadly it is
Summer 2009: Evan was out of town when I found a scorpion in my bed room. I threw a shoe at it but it escaped and then I couldn't find it again
-lesson learned: they glow in black light
Summer 2010: Luckily this time the scorpion was inside our kitchen light fixture (don't ask me how it got there...I don't want to know). We had maintenance come over and take care of the thing.
-lesson learned: They breath through their flesh so if you spray them with hairspray it slows them down enough to kill them
Here is our "friend" walking around inside our light.
*since I first posted this picture we have had another scorpion and tried out the hairspray trick...worked pretty well but definitely didn't kill the thing*

July Fourth Weekend
I called my aunt Thursday night and asked if Evan and I could hang out with her and her family for the weekend of the Fourth of July. She listed off about a dozen things she had going on that weekend in between orders to her friends to put more things in her grocery cart (she was shopping for food for Girls Camp), "SO...is that a yes" I asked. After going back and forth over the next 24 hours of whether or not we should go (apparently I don't do spontaneous very well) we drove the 5 hours and 20 minutes to Alpine, CA.
Now it took an extra 20 minutes to get there because I got pulled over by a highway patrol man. I know! He said I was "weaving." WHAT? to make a long story short he asked me to get out of the car. I did. I stood next to the patrol car while he proceeded to ask me a 100 questions including, but not limited to, "What is your date of birth," "Where are you headed," "where do you work," "where does your husband work," "What year is your car," "when is the last time you had work done on your car," "Is is hot in Arizona." The list goes on, all the while Evan is sitting in the car wondering what is going on. He then tells me that he needs to go look at some "numbers on the car" and goes up to the passengers window and asked Evan a bunch of the same questions. I guess to see if we would say the same things? I'm unsure. So then he didn't even give me a ticket! I guess he was impressed Evan was in medical school. I don't know. Probably one of the scariest things that has ever happened, but thank goodness I brought Evan along...he is one of the luckiest guys I know.
ON TO THE TRIP...Playing Nintendo Wii
They were so impressed, poor kids have never seen sparklers before.
Evan drove the whole way home...and he didn't even get pulled over:0

Little people...Big owies
My sister-in-law brought her kids up for a weekend visit. We love it when they come. Although this time brought some unexpected events...while Evan was watching the kids the youngest who is 2 1/2 decided to stick his fingers underneath the treadmill which gave him a trip to the Urgent Care.
Poor little guy was such a trooper.
Now that is post is so old I can tell you that he visited his primary care doctor who sent him to a plastic surgeon who had to put him under to check out the fingers...and he's going to be OK!!
Get Away
Evan and I took a short trip up to Heber, Utah for Evan's grandpa's 80th birthday bash. On the way we took a quick stop in Saint George, Utah. I thought Evan looked up directions to the hotel and Evan thought I looked up directions to the hotel...So we went to the Mormon Temple where I hear there are very nice people there at the visitor's center. A senior missionary gave us directions and a very nice young lady gave us a tour of the facility and we looked at an art gallery with pioneer depictions.
Us on the steps of the Saint George Temple. After we found our hotel we went and saw a dollar movie, "Date Night" and went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. Very disappointed with the food, but the raspberry lemonade was very tasty.
The next morning we watched the USA World Cup soccer game that did not disappoint. My boy Landon Donavon pulled through for me. Then we headed up to good old Provo.
We spent the rest of the Day at my older sister's house. We got to watch my nephew play with his new swing set, play in his blow up pool, and chase his chicken's around. My baby sister came by for a bit after she got off of work and before she had to go to her second job. Two of my girlfriends from high school also came by for a little visit. And to top off a great time day I got to visit the new location of JDawgs the best eatery in Provo dare I say Utah County?
80th Birthday Bash
Evan's maternal grandfather celebrated his 80th birthday with a big party with the whole family. Luckily Evan was done with his board exams and had a couple days before his rotations started.
Evan and his siblings playing "Vegas Showdown" at the games table at the Heber house.
Evan's grandpa is an excellent painter and craftsmen. He built this bench and painted a landscape on the back of the seat.
Evan and the guest of honor, Grandpa Mike.

Most of the cousins...only missing a couple
Not the best spot for pictures, so Evan's dad was trying to creature some shade and get ride of some shadows. It was a good effort.
The Norbys
The Heber house is so pretty and has a great yard. We love visiting there.
