Finals finally over

May 20, 2010 marked the last day Evan will ever take a final. He is done with his course work as part of medical school. Now he has a couple weeks to study and take his First Step of the boards then on to the next part of our medical school journey...clinical rotations.
I should have taken a picture of me as well since I'm just as happy as Evan is, if not more so. I can't believe how fast these past two years have gone by. It hasn't been easy, but I pray it will all be worth the effort.

I dare you...

So a couple weeks ago our ward hosted a Relief Society activity about decluttering and cleaning. As part of the activity we had an exchange table where people can put out items that they no longer wanted/needed and basically the poor med student wifes swiped all their "junk" right up.

I found these cute flowers that could be made into those flower clip things that everyone is making these days so I took a couple. My friend had the same idea and she took a few as well. As we were talking about making them into the cute clippy flower things I jokingly said they did not need to be sized down that they were perfectly fine the way they were and that I would have no problem wearing a giant flower in my hair...Ne ways she took me up on that offer and basically dared me to wear the flower to church. How could I turn down a dare like that?

Now you see it...

Now you don't...
These pictures were taken after church, so my bun is a little fuzzy, but I pretty much rocked the giant flower don't you think?

Silver Spur?

I have recently discovered or rather finally tried out Restaurants.com. It is a website that sells gift certificates to locally owned restaurants at a discounted rate (and they are even cheaper if you have a promo code (use promo code "FLAG" until 5/29/10). I like these certificates for the following reasons:
1. Evan and I get to dine out for a very inexpensive price
2. We get to order lots of food or even dessert and still stay under budget
3. Spending less money means more frequent date nights
4. Getting to experience new restaurants
5. Stimulating the economy by visiting local ma and pa restaurants.About a month ago we "experienced" the Silver Spur with Landon and Ashley Winget. We even ventured out of our usual 1 mile radius around our apartment complex, since the place was in Cave Creek.
The food was good, especially the corn bread, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was really fun.
After dinner we took a stroll around the restaurants where there are some fun gift shops and props to pose with and take pictures.

The Wingets at the gallows.
I thought the name of the bar was funny, really bear garden?

pickles

In mid April Evan's parents and one of his younger brothers came for a visit. So we all went out to dinner with Evan's sister's family. It was a cute family restaurant that was featured on "diners, drive-ins and dive" or whatever that show is called ne ways it was a cool little place that served a lot of organic things including...home style pickles. This is my nephew attempted to eat one... At first we couldn't figure out what he was doing. It was pretty cute. His kept making faces as if he didn't like the pickles but he kept eating them go figure.

SURPRISE!

Evan and I threw a surprise birthday party for Evan's older sister who turned the big 3-0 and his younger brother Patrick who became a menace to society at age 26. Patrick was in town for a week so we thought we would give them a surprise when they stopped by to visit. All the guests (me and Evan) hid and yelled, "SURPRISE" when they came inside, needless to say since both of their birthdays had past they were surprised.
Evan and I decorated the birthday sign, cute right?
The rough housing started almost immediately after the kids walked through the doors, lucky for them they have two young very cool uncles. "Flour Tower" Kinda like Jenga. Whomever makes the coin fall has to pick it up with their teeth. Little Wade kept making it fall, but Uncle Evan was willing to pick it up for him.
See how many cotton balls you can stick to your nose with Vaseline and blow off in 45 seconds...one of those games that is more fun to watch then actually participate in;)
It's a Norby family tradition. Honestly I was a little skeptical of the whole concept of giving someone a straight pin while being blind folded, but Evan assured me that his mom let them play the "pop the balloons attached to the ceiling fan while it's on" game, so I obliged.
Sara and Patrick with the special birthday plates.
the "other" birthday plate. I saw these at Target and couldn't pass them up. Really? Come on

Easter

Evan hunting for his Easter basket.

He found it!!

After General Conference so friends from the ward came over for some Easter dinner. My family doesn't have any traditional Easter food, but I like ham. So I cooked up a ham and we had a very tasty pot luck. Good thing I invited some good cooks.

Biggest fear comes to past

4-6-10 This is how the morning went...
-Alarm goes off...I turn it off
-Evan comes in to the room and guilts me out of bed, "oh, I'll just walk to school"
-I'm asked " did you hear those cats last night?" "No" "They were so loud, I wanted to hit them with a baseball bat" "good thing we don't have a baseball bat!"
-As I'm slipping me flip flops on Evan asks if I've seen his keys. I tell him to look out on the back porch since they were in a bag with his cleats from his flag football game the night before. (I already have that mom instinct, where you just know where missing things are, except for Evan's wedding ring, still can't find that)
-Evan grabs his keys and we're out the door.
-Evan begins to say our family prayer as I'm driving down the road (with my eyes open) then he pauses..."what is that smell" "I don't know, (I think, "I hope he's not talking about my unbrushed teeth") then I respond, "Did that cat pee on your keys?"
-Evan unrolls the window and sticks the keys into the air. He hastily finishes our family prayer and we are at the gate to school. He assures me to will clean his keys immediately. I love yous and he's gone
-I laugh as I drive home, only because Evan is petrified of Cats ever since a Microbiology lecture they had on the dangers of Cats and their poop. He has told me on more than one occasion that our future children are not to play in sand boxes for fear of disease.
-rest assure all the sports equipment has now been washed and is now drying...Hope we don't die.
